For many months, I’ve been looking at the benefits of several anti-aging devices and procedures that show promising results. One of those is “needling” by Rollers or Pens. The cost of the procedures done by Estheticians can be expensive especially considering the number of treatments required, but after doing a bit of research, Micro Needling, as an at-home, DIY procedure is relatively safe when all recommended procedures are followed. When I had the opportunity to get the Dr. Pen device, I was thrilled. The Dr. Pen devices are known to be some of the best and used by many Estheticians. This Dr. Pen comes with the most popular needle cartridges that are easy to install. Needling adjustments are easily made on the Dr. Pen. I’ve been looking at videos about the device and how to use it for months, so as soon a I received it, I ordered a few recommended items. Last night, I tried my Dr. Pen for the 1st time and did some Nano Needling, which is an easy, pretty much non-invasive process to to start with. The pen worked flawlessly. Because it’s wireless, it was so easy to maneuver. And my first procedure was a success. That Nano treatment had allowed all of the goodness of my cosmetics to be deposited into my skin. In two weeks, I will do my first Micro Needling procedure. I am so happy that I have the Dr. Pen Ultima A9 to help me get it done right!

I love the case this comes in. Everything feels sterile, medical grade like - and the included needles are in individual sterile packages. Some notes: -The needle cartridges are one-time use. The box includes (2) cartridges in 3 sizes (for a total of 6). - I did not find any included directions on exactly *how* one should go about micro needling their skin (desired motion, how often between sessions, etc). I would recommend looking up a video to answer those questions. - I’ve completed 1 session on my skin. I have Keratosis Polaris, rosacea, and a decently prominent scar under my bottom lip from a childhood accident. My skin is definitely smoother, and I can see how this would reduce the appearance of scaring over time. I did experience some breaking out after the fact, but I feel that’s to be expected considering the nature of micro needling (you’re creating a lot of micro-wounds that could gather bacteria from the briefest of touches).

Great! The only brand I would trust with such an intense "at-home procedure" like microneedling. I think the packaging is legit and consistent with all the Dr. Pen products online so don't worry about receiving a dangerous knock-off. This was my first experience with microneedling and it was pretty straight forward. Cordless pen which is a must-have especially for newbies, last thing you want to do is wrestle with a cord while doing the procedure and risk bad application process or even contamination of touching the cord to your hands/face unknowingly. This doesn't include extensive instructions so definitely do your research before using, videos preferred by me tbh and dr pen has some online. Also doesn't come with any extensive medical supplies (gloves, numbing cream, sterilizing alcohols) nor product to use in conjunction (often hyaluronic acid for skin, gentle cleaners, restoration for the days following). You will unfortunately become dependent on the needles for future purchase since they're obviously not reusable. I am unfamiliar with the market for this particular item and thus cannot assess "value for product" sufficiently. For electronic devices like this, longevity and maintenance will be the major concern. First impressions, will update if I find further benefits or issues w/ more use in the future.

Okay I wasn't exactly sure what this was and with the scarce instructions, I'm still not sure. I had to watch some youtube videos to figure it out and that's not good. I could figure out how to insert the needles etc. I just wasn't sure what I was doing with the pen. Then, I read that maybe I'm microneedling so that moisturizer will have more of an effect. For that, it definitely works well. I've been using my high end moisturizer with this microneedling for a couple weeks and I definitely see results after microneedling. I don't know for sure which product is working but I definitely see a reduction in fine lines on my face. I have lines around my eyes and my mouth - smile lines and after microneedling with this product and applying moisturizer, I see a noticeable change. It's easy to assemble and use but it definitely needs more directions because this is a medical device and I need to feel confident using it and more directions would help.

I can't believe that you can get salon quality micro-needling out of this little pen. This A9 Derma Pen is amazing. Make sure you watch some videos before you do it for the first time. I had to wait a little bit before I could use this because I needed a couple additional items first. I bought some numbing cream, some cream cleanser, hyaluronic acid serum and a really good moisturizer. I watched several videos before doing it to make sure I was operating it correctly. I definitely didn't want to hurt myself. I would highly recommend this if you do this at the salon. You can do it yourself, it is very easy to use and worth every penny. I did have some slight bruising, which I expected, as I bruise easily. Can't wait to see what it does after a few more treatments.

Okay, I'll admit I sat staring at this for a few weeks before I tried it out. The thought of putting needles into your face is really unappealing, but these needles really are small. I used the nano size needles when I first used this and honestly could not tell if the machine was actually getting my skin. I switched to the 12 needle tip. There is a huge difference between the nano and the 12. I'm not quite sure what the nano would be used for. I've never had Profesional microneedling and didn't know what to expect at all... But using the Dr. Pen at home really wasn't anything like what I was anticipating needling to be like. I did not use any kind of numbing agent. You can feel the needles poke you, but it's not unbearable. After, your skin will feel red and tender. I think it actually felt worse after than while in the process of needling. The machine comes with 6 disposable needle cartridges. (2) nano, (2) 12 needles, and (2) 36 needles pen tips. They are pretty easy to figure out how to put in the pen. The machine comes with some instructions and a guideline for depth to use at various parts of the face. The depth is adjustable by twisting the bottom of the pen - it goes from 0-2.5 and is clearly labeled. The speed is adjustable by the pressing the ON button multiple times. Long-press to turn off. The instructions do not tell you how to actually use this. How hard to press, how long to stay on one place, etc. I suggest watching some how-to videos online if you've never used one of these. I got this to try and stimulate growth in a damaged area of my skin - its too early to tell, but I have hopes that if it can reduce wrinkles it can reduce my skin damage too. Overall, pretty user friendly and surprisingly painless. I'll definitely keep using this.

I think this product is great, and I love that you can do microneedling at home. It was very easy to use. I like the little carrying case that it comes in, which can carry all the needles as well. It comes with different types of needle cartridges. The instructions are pretty clear for the most part. It wasn’t near as painful as I had feared it would be. Hardly any pain at all actually, depending on what settings I used. But i’ve heard some people use numbing cream. Overall, i’m happy with it and can’t wait to see the long term results.

I love this pen! It keeps my skin feeling amazing, it helps to get rid of my scarring on my face and makes my skin look more invigorating. This comes with a few different needle pin sizes. Each pen goes deeper some don't go deep at all. i prefer the deepest pin die to scarring. It will make your face red. But it will clear up after a few hours. This is an awesome microneedle pen.

It costs >$100 to have one round of micro needling done by a professional. For that price, you can try the Dr. Pen Ultima A9, which was priced at $98 when I picked it up. Since I am a scaredy cat when it comes to voluntarily puncturing my face thousands of times, I got together with my sis to try this out. The two of us slathered on enough numbing cream to keep nerve endings dead for 4 hours, disinfected everything, slathered on some hyaluronic acid serum and went to town with the A9. It took less than 10 minutes for each of us to do our faces and necks using the needle at the beginner depths of 0.25 and 0.50 (easy adjustment). My sis ended up doing my face since she thought I couldn't keep the pen at a 90-degree angle to my face (prevent dragging). I was a bit tender for about a day or two after treatment, but my sis ended up using the A9 on the back of her hands and thought that it was very gentle compared to a derma roller, so she'll try it without numbing cream next time. It's been almost a week and while my sister hasn't noticed a change to her complexion, my cheeks are a little softer and I've had a couple of little micro acne pop up (nothing big enough to treat, and they went away in about a day), so it seems my dry mid-40s skin is producing a bit more oil than before. We're both looking forward to trying this again, using a deeper needle depth, since my skin didn't pinken like it does in instructional videos. Oh yes, since there were 6 cartridges included in the package, it's nice knowing that I don't need to immediately purchase refills. Best of all, we have another excuse to get together!

Make sure you know what you are doing before you set on this journey with a beauty pen. Basically the heads are made of tiny needles that barely poke the skin, therefore allowing tightening while healing. There are many details to how this works, the size and number of needles in the pen heads, and more. I did this to one side of my area around my cheek and chin, as I wasn’t ready to go near my eye area. I found the settings for me where it’s barely a sting, and I do feel the skin looks better. This is not a thing for a beginner to do without research for sure. The Dr Pen system is known to be among the best in this area of home treatment. I will keep exploring use of this beauty pen and hope to rejuvenate the rest of my skin as I learn.

Works great; high-quality. The pen is easy to use for beginners. I love that it is wireless with a long-lasting charge. Durable and lightweight; comes with all that you need. I would recommend this derma-pen.

My skin has been bumpy lately and I've tried different exfoliating products, which seems to help. But I found this item to help my skin the most. It made my skin smoother and that being said I recommend.

I’ve had my Face microneedle professionally but I haven’t tried it myself. It is a little bit scary at first because you are sticking needles into your skin. It doesn’t really hurt that much and you get used to it pretty quickly. It helps to increase the collagen and your skin so it helps to get rid of fine lines. Your face will be red after you use this but that’s pretty normal. I think overtime it doesn’t make a difference.

Good microneedling pen, but unless you're already well versed in the world of microneedling devices and techniques, you'll have to search for instructional videos online because Dr. Pen is pretty lacking in this regard. Other than that the product itself is great. high quality construction despite being so small and light. A full charge out of the box and I haven't had to charge it yet after 2 months. There are 6 needling speeds for your needs. Replacement needles in the box for multiple sizes. All around great package.

I was so surprised to find that you could order a tool to do micro needling yourself at home! There really wasn’t helpful instructions included so I had to do a little research on my own, so I deducted a star for that. Overall with a little practice this is a great tool to enter the world of micro needling, I used the smallest setting so far and felt my skin tighten up.

This micro-needling device was a bit intimidating to me at first. I didn't use it for months due to my lack of knowledge on it and wanting to learn more about it before using it on my face. I would suggest doing your research prior to using it. The device looks like something like the professionals would use and I'm happy that I get to do this at home and save lots of money! They are many benefits to using this device, but I was mostly interested in skin tightening and lessening the wrinkles on my forehead which it seems to be helping with. The needles are tiny and the pain was nothing like I was expecting.

It is definitely a little bit intimidating before you start using it but I must say that once you do there is nothing to really fear about. Just keep in mind you need to apply moisturizer before previous use or you might develop some heavy skin irritation. Other than that the instruction on how to operate are really great, the quality of the pen itself is really good and after a couple weeks of use you will definitely see some results. Definitely recommended.
