Before use, depending on your cartridge choice of either 12, 36, or 42 needles, I suggest using a 5% Lidocaine numbing cream since this procedure could be painful. The Round Nano and Silicone Nano are flat-surfaced cartridges that will not poke your face, so Lidocaine is not needed. Now, during treatment, you'll want to keep your face lubricated the whole time, especially when using the 12, 36, and 42 needles cartridges. This will help the pen to glide over your face more smoothly. Hyaluronic Acid serum is the most ideal. My sound advice is to be completely educated on the process of microneedling before jumping into it. You want to be sure you're being completely sanitary to avoid cross-contamination and potentially making your skin worse. Doing things like washing your face before treatment, pulling back your hair, and avoiding touching anything while performing a treatment are all safe procedures that should be followed. Doing these things will help you avoid infection or severe irritation. Also, once you use a needle it is no longer good. Throw it away! These are one-time-use needles.
